I am anchored in the sky Silver teardrops fill my eye I am darkness; I am light Salted sunsets call the night I am anchored in the land Wind that whispers where I stand I am gentle; I am strong In this forest, I belong I am anchored in the flame The ancestors chant my name I am death, and I am life Fierce protection - Earth’s golden knife I am anchored in the sea Mother Earth gave birth to me We are different; we are one All my sisters of the sun

The meadow sparkles gold and green A recent rain makes the wood fence shine And the soft animal is lying between Those painted yellow lines Sweet dreams little critter buddy Twitch your nose, slow down, get all muddy Forget the twig shelter you built when it last snowed Your precious life was a bump in the road The sunlight slants through the leaves Acorns scattered in the stream Spiral spiderwebs and buzzing bees The soft animal starts to dream. Sweet dreams... Was a perfect little being With a hunger and heartbeat What the driver wasn't seeing We're those little running feet Sweet dreams...

Don't you tell me it's time to rest And don't you tell me where to go next I need to be where I am now I need to be where I have landed ... I shall know when it's time to rest And I shall know where to go next I learn to be where I am now I learn to be where I have landed ... I shall know when it's time to rest And I shall know where to go next I learn to love where I am now I learn to love where I have landed

I love the sun, it slowly rises, at the start of each day I hear the eagle in the garden, come away, come away I love the moon, high in the dark sky, where the bright stars all play I hear the owl in the deep wood, come away, come away So come away with me now, dear friend away with me now Walk beside the quiet waters of this fair island, come away, come away And leave your sorrows a-lone, dear heart there's sorrow I know Laugh and sing about the stories of this fair island, come away, come away I love the trees, trees of the forest, for stand tall and pray I hear the bluejay, she is laughing, come away, come away I love the wind out in the ocean, love the taste of salt spray I hear the seagull, she is crying, come away, come away So come away with me now, dear friend away with me now Walk beside the quiet waters of this fair island, come away, come away And leave your sorrows a-lone, dear heart there's sorrow I know Laugh and sing about the stories of this fair island, come away, come away I love the silence of a snowfall, the sound of rain on my roof And I'm so thankful for each moment that I spent here with you I love the river running freely, days of green, days of blue And I give thanks for each moment that I've spent here with you So come away with me now, dear friend away with me now Walk beside the quiet waters of this fair island, come away, come away And leave your sorrows a-lone, dear heart there's sorrow I know Laugh and sing about the stories of this fair island, come away, come away And I give thanks for each moment, that I've spent here with you

about

"Derekh Eretz” is a collaborative musical gift! With eight original songs by Eden Village Staff and one cover, recorded lovingly with friends on Wappinger land at Eden Village Camp in Putnam Valley, NY, this diverse album harvests some of the magic we experienced singing together so it can be remembered and celebrated beyond this summer! “Derekh Eretz” means “the way of the land” literally, and it’s often used to mean “treating each other with kindness.” In this shmita year, we’re thinking about both meanings as we ease ourselves into right relationship with the land and with each other.
